Every year during our World Angel Investment Summit we host a Gala Awards Dinner. It's always an exciting evening where attendees get a chance to network, enjoy a fabulous plated dinner, and celebrate the award winners. In addition, the team at NACO takes time to recognize certain members for their Distinguished Service to NACO. Nominations are now open for the 2019 NACO Awards. Here's some details on each award!

The first award is presented to the Most Promising Startup of the Year. Last year, this award was given to Zoom.ai and was presented by BDO and Panache Ventures. This year, the Startup of the Year award is designed to invite Angels and a company they back to participate in the World Angel Investment Summit in order to showcase their unique business propositions to the international Angel community and industry supporters. Nominations for the Most Promising Startup of the Year will be submitted by NACO members by April 25th, 2019 with three finalists and one winner selected by a committee of five NACO members. All three semi-finalists will receive free passes to the World Angel Investment Summit. Whereas, the top thirty companies submitted will be invited to participate in one-on-one meetings with investors and receive a discount on conference entrance fees. For more information on this award and how to nominate, click here.

The next award is presented to the Exit of the Year. Last year, this award was given to Genesis Robotics, Michael Gibney, and Dr. Basil Peters and was presented by RBC. The award seeks to recognize the partnership between an Angel investor and a founder that most contributed to the growth and eventual exit of a startup through a combination of investment(s), mentorship, and leadership. This year, the award will again be presented by RBC and will recognize the most successful exit achieved by a Canadian startup that received financing by one of NACO’s members. For more information on this award and how to nominate, click here.

The final award is presented to the Angel of the Year. Last year, this award was given to Randy Stewart Thompson and was presented by BDC Capital.  The award seeks to identify the Angel investor who has most contributed to the growth and development of Angel investing in Canada through a combination of investment, mentorship, and leadership within their local ecosystem. This year, the award will again be presented by BDC Capital and will be given to an experienced Angel investor who has made a significant contribution to the development of the Canadian Angel ecosystem over the last year. For more information on this award and how to nominate, click here.
